Books, Beans and Buddies

Wisebird Book Club

“The Wisebird Bookery Book Club met tonight and celebrated it’s 5-year anniversary.  I can’t believe it’s been that long.  There were 3 charter members in attendance and 2 people who were there for the 1st time so it was a great mix.  We discussed “Enchanted April”, a book that made us laugh and even giggle a little.

We selected three books for summer reading.  We will begin with “Little Bee” by Chris Cleave.  It was recommeded by Celeste and is a current bestseller.  We will be discussing it June 24.  Wisebird ordered several copies so it will be on their shelves again toward the end of next week.  You can call and reserve a copy if you would like to read it.

For July we chose “The Reluctant Fundamentalist”.  It was recommeded by Sue, a new member.  She said it is a book you will read in one day because you won’t be able to put it down once you start.  We will be discussing it on July 22.  Wisebird ordered several copies of this one also so you can pick up both at the same time if you would like.

In August we will discuss “Sky Burial” by Xinran.  It was suggested by Kathleen who has not read it yet but it looks like a really quick read so it will be a good summer travel book.  It is translated from Chinese and available in paperback.  We will be discussing it on August 26.

There are some good suggestions for summer reading so have a great summer and join us on the 4th Thursday of the month whenever you can.  We are a fun, diverse group of women and we love to meet new people and get new ideas.  Hope to see you soon.

Shanna”
